What to drink. Whisky is popular, obviously, as is Guinness, but Irish cider is apparently big here now, too. Other options include mead (popular after dinner drink, the strength can very from beer to liquor-strength, maybe give it another chance), Irish Coffee (it's whisky, black coffee with lots of cream on top), and Baileys (served on the rocks).
What to eat. Soda bread, Irish stew, colcannon (it's a mix of mashed potatoes, cabbage or kale plus butter or cream), champ (similar to colcannon), boxty (it's like potato dumplings or potato pancakes), boiled bacon and cabbage, Irish salmon and smoked salmon, black pudding (pork meat, fat and blood mixed with barley, oatmeal and sausage), white pudding (same, but without the blood), coddle (a slow cooked one pot stew) and barmbrack (fruity tea loaf).
